future tempos - 2020

The dissemination of architectural discourse is a fundamental component in the constitution of the discipline as a cultural practice. being the mountain - 2020

Being the Mountain examines the relationship between architecture and the ground it occupies, revisiting key moments in architectural history to uncover new potentials in this fundamental interaction. The result of research PRODUCTORA initiated as winners of the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize for Emerging Practice, the book positions the output of the Mexico City–based firm within this under-explored lineage: as a form of constructed topography. PRODUCTORA used these hypotheses to drive studio curriculum at IIT. Ideas and conversations with PRODUCTORA and my peers at IIT contributed to this text. Click the image for more.

Architecture was absent, or if at all present, was represented in the form of ruins hidden in the background. This semester’s worth of research culminates in a pavilion design for the Cultural Capital of Europe, Rijeka 2020, representing architecture in the new geological epoch: the Anthropocene.
